Vishnu Sahasranamam With Lyrics - Vedic Sources (2023)

Vishnu Sahasranamam presents 1000 names of Lord Vishnu. As per Sanskrit, ‘sahasra’ means ‘one thousand’ and ‘nāma’ means ‘name’. Thus,Vishnu Sahasranamammeans LordVishnuwith thousand names or thousand names of LordVishnu.

Chanting Vishnu Sahasranamam regularly one can get the blessings of Lord Vishnu. This also protects from the evil eyes and enemies. Vishnu Sahasranamam assists in removing obstacles, diseases, suffering and helps attain Moksha. This also removes all negative energies like jealousy, greed and cleanses the mind.

According to scriptures, this great hymn was created by Sage Vyasa. Sage Vyasa might have passed this to Pita Maha Bheesma. According to the 135th chapter of Anushāsanaparva in The Mahabharata, the Vishnu Sahasranamam was handed down to Yudhishthira by Pita Maha who was on his death bed (of arrows) in the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
